The National Energy Strategy in Italy aims to save 20 Mtoe of primary energy per year and 15 Mtoe of final energy, reaching in 2020 around 24% lower consumption than the European reference scenario. Its goal is also to avoid emissions of approximately 55 million tonnes of CO2 per year. Energy efficiency will be the main driving force behind the reduction of CO2.
The Italian government intends to make available a specific national fund of 800 million euros for energy efficiency to promote energy efficiency in public administrations, companies and families in line with the objectives set by the European Union for a 20% reduction in primary energy consumption by 2020. Energy efficiency in Italy boasts several positions of leadership and can even look abroad for rapidly expanding markets.
With a strong legal framework of the ESCO market and certification based on a standard, Italy enjoys a growing interest from the demand side and a raising awareness of its market thanks to an active promotion from the Italian government.
All those reasons led us to bring ESCO Europe 2015 to the main industrial, commercial, and financial centre of Italy and a leading Global City: the vibrant city of Milan!
